Trading Leather eases to victory in TRM Silver Stakes – Horseracing news
Trading Leather proved to be successful in the TRM Silver Stakes (Listed Race) at Curragh in Ireland on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
The three-year-old colt did not get any competition from his opponents, which was expected, as he was given the best odds by the bookies. Therefore, the punters gambled the most number of bets in his favour and benefitted from the situation.
Although Trading Leather won comfortably by three and half lengths, his camp was not expecting an easy race, especially because of the fact that there were some other solid runners up against him.
According to the winning trainer Jim Bolger, “I was expecting a good show but you can never be too sure coming here to the Curragh for a race like that. There's nothing easy out there. It was a good effort in the Irish Guineas as the trip was short of his
best. All going well in the meantime he'll be back here for the Irish Derby.”
The veteran trainer added, “He's a very straightforward horse but he needs the ground good or faster. He's getting the hang of things and seems to go on any ground. We may look at the Railway Stakes here (on June 29).”
Overall, Trading Leather has participated in just seven races until now, which shows that he is pretty much inexperienced. However, he has appeared in some important events and has managed to do well in them, which is good for his confidence.
The Irish colt has dropped out of the top-three only once in his career, which is a positive sign. He has been victorious in three races whereas finished as a runner up on a couple of times. In addition to that, he has secured the third spot once. If he
continues delivering solid results with consistency, he will definitely be in a position to represent his camp in some major competitions in 2014.
Kevin Manning has been the one partnering Trading Leather since the start of his career. The pair has been really impressive until now, but they need to start winning consistently in order to improve their overall strike rate and get the attention of the
bookies regularly.
