Trading in Old Clothes?

I know you can go to certain stores to trade in clothes for money...but I don't know where to find one near me. I need to find a place to trade in my old clothes near Lake Elsinore/Riverside.

Where's the nearest one and what is it called?

  1. try a place called Platos Closet                                                                               i give them my old clothes for cash =]

  2. Look in the yellow pages under consignment shops.  There will be a mixture of ones for household items and ones for clothing.  Most of them will be for maternity and children's clothing.  But persevere and you should be able to find something that will take adult clothing.  If you're not sure, call any of the other clothing consignment shops and ask; they usually are privately owned and know all the other consignment shops in your area.

Make sure all items are stain-free and in good condition.  Don't be surprised if stuff you think looks great or is in fashion is declined.  Find out if they require you to make an appointment, what their pay scale is, and how they want your clothes presented (the one my teens use just wants them folded and in a basket while others require them to be on hangers).  Some will take clothing for any season, some will only be taking clothing for the upcoming season.  Spring/summer clothing is in demand in February and March and shops look for autumn/winter clothing usually beginning in July or August.  Most give you the option of instant cash or store credit, with store credit offering a little bit more money.  Good luck and have fun!

  3. Here are some good solutions to earn extra money.

    1. If they are in good shape you can sell them over EBay!

    2. Second hand thrift stores will buy them.

    3. Have a garage sale.

    4. Sell to a friend that does flea markets or sells used clothing.

    5. Sell to your friends.

Here are some good solutions that will not earn you money.

    1. Give to a friend or relative.

    2. Give to a charitable thrift store.

    3. Give to a church.

    4. Give to a homeless shelter.

I hope this helps, but whatever you do. Please do not throw them away even if they are not in the best of shape!! There are already too many nice or still wearable clothes rotting in landfills. :)

If you cannot find anyone to take them then drop me an email and I may be able to help. We are always looking for used clothes or sneakers for our family. If they do not fit us, then maybe we can find somebody who will take them.
