Is there a special market for investors looking to trade large volumes of shares in the range of about 50,000 (for the same company at one time).

  1. There are no 'special' markets.  50,000 isn't really a huge number of shares either.  Depending on the share price that wouldn't necessarily even be a large trade... 5c share x 50,000 = $2,500.

  2. 50k shares is only a problem if average volume is under 1m/day.

if so, there's no special market.  you could spread the sale out over a few days or weeks, though.

  3. Hi,

If you are looking at to trade for company in Dow 30, Nasdaq 100 or SP100; 50,000 share is relatively small, for example IBM which is DOW30 average daily volume is 7 to 8 millions a day, Microsoft average volume is 71 millions a day; so 50,000 share can be absorb by the market very easy.

for dow30, you can go to nyse website to look at the volume. http://marketrac.nyse.com/mt/index.html, similarly with nasdaq and S&P you can go to their website to find out which symbol is belong to S&P100 and Nasdaq 100.

NB: you can check the volume from nyse url above eventhough it's nasdaq100 stocks, etc...

but if you are looking to trade outside those main indexes, you need to make sure there is enough liquidity for you to trade, so you can get in and get out very easy and doesn't effect the price.

I hope it helps and good luck.

    Happy trading

    Cheers
