Traditional music in england?

i know alot of different countrys have their own traditional music, like scotland has their, irenand had irish folk, i also have a friend in japan and they have some traditiona music to them, i was just woundering if england had a traditional music? if so what is it called?

  1. Everybody likes the oldies, here in the north east house is very popular!!!


  2. England has not retained its folk roots to the extent that Scotland and Ireland have.

    There is more traditional English folk music to be heard up north i.e. Northumberland/Durham.

    Point your search engine to "The Watersons" They have recorded vast amounts of English traditional songs.

  3. Folk music. There are almost certainly some major folk festivals coming up this weekend, Not all the people who enjoy folk music are old buggers like me either!

  4. I wouldn't say we have traditional music, but i'd say Indie is our trademark.

  5. I would have thought it would be Britpop but I suppose that applies to Britain and not just England (no, they are not the same thing.) I think England is becoming well-known for its indie music in 2008, if anything. Punk music and post-punk, also.
