  1. Ordinarily, once there is an engagement, you set the date very quickly.  Totally depends on customs and they change with time.  Today, it is common to get married 6 months to a year after the proposal is accepted.  Generally, a wedding with under 50 guests is easier to plan in a shorter time slot.

My guy proposed in June and we are getting married in December.

  2. However long you need to plan the wedding.  Ours was only about 4 months because we wanted a simple wedding.  Most of my friends' were around 6-9 months.

  3. They say the national average length of an engagement is 14 months, but it can be as short as one day or as long as 20 years...however long it takes you to plan the wedding you want and get emotionally and financially prepared to be someone's spouse.

  4. I am a wedding planner and usually i see engagements anywhere between 6moths to the typical 12-14months...gotta leave time for planning and reserving

  5. About a year

  6. I'm engaged and planning a wedding right now!!

12 months is pretty standard... my fiance and i will have been engaged for 7 months by the time we get married and i dont regret that at all! but the shorter the amount of time the more you have to get done faster and it can be a little stressful, sometimes harder to boook things, and harder to pay for the wedding/honeymoon if you are just starting out and young and dont have a lot of money. so there are a lot of things to consider for your own personal engagement, but planning-wise 12 months is about the norm!! :)

  7. i'm heard that you should wait at LEAST 6 months, i would say a year is sufficient time to plan and save and get ready.

  8. The American average engagement is currently 14-16 months, depending on what you read.  It used to be about 9 months.

  9. about a year for saving and planning

  10. Standard nowadays is 12-18 months.

  11. 1 year or 12 months.

  12. 12 months is a good amount of time to plan and save up.

  13. it can be for however long u need it to be but traditionally about a year.

  14. Traditionally?  Probably 6-12 months... but not that wedding have become such big deals, the standard has probably changed to 12-18 months, since to book the best vendors you often have to book them that far ahead.

  15. I would say 2 years max!

  16. People usually like to wait between 1 or 2 years....mostly because of planning and saving....

Basically you wait as long as you need to get everything done....

A wedding could be done in weeks if the money is readily available ;)
