Well, the basic gist of it is (and not necessarily in this order-obviously it's more complicated) that they made a lot of treaties they didn't keep, gave them diseases that they'd never encountered before (small pox, measles), slaughtered a lot of them (including women and children) in unfairly matched 'battles', enslaved some of them, and rounded up the rest into reservations.

You should read 'Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee' by Dee Brown.

But read the wikipedia article which has bits about Native American History. It's probably got enough for your history report.
