I'm getting ready to move to Seattle, WA. I hear that traffic can be rough and if you live 10 minutes from your job, it takes a full hour before you arrive to work. Is this true?

  1. The traffic is a huge drag. It's not quite bad enough to stretch 10 minutes out into an hour, but you do need to make sure you give yourself plenty of time.

  2. It's not that bad... Just around 5 o'clock things get a little busy... You have to watch out for Seahawks' and Mariners' games too.

  3. Traffic can be brutal, but it depends on the time of day and where you're going to/coming from.  If you can avoid I-5 during commuting time, you'll probably save time.  You'd be surprised at all the back routes you can find.

  4. Seattle is pretty d**n busy.

More people are moving in and it just looks busier to me now.

It takes my dad 2 hours to get to work, even though if the

traffic wasnt there it would take him an hour.

  5. Take the bus. Seattle has a very good transit system.

If you must use your car, try to take surface streets.

Pick yourself up a Thomas Bros. Map Book for the

Seattle (King County) area. A more comprehensive

Thomas Bros. map book covers the major tri-county

area (King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties).

  6. If it takes you an hour to get somewhere then you live an hour away from there, not 10 minutes.

Yes, traffic is bad much of the time.
