Question:

Traffic Ticket Problem... plzzzzz help?

I live in California and got a traffic ticket last year; driving with no insurance and an expired licence. I missed my court date because ironically, my car died 3days before my date in court. I missed it and it became a bench warrant. Is there any way I can avoid jail time? And... is there a way for me to still legally drive a car if I can work out a payment method?

  1. Always talk to a lawyer before talking to judges or cops. Here (in UK) there are things called Citizen Advice Bureaus, you can go there and ask for legal advice for free, i don't know if there's something in US.

  2. Yes, you need to go to the police station and turn yourself in.  Don't wait until they find you.  Go before the judge and show him your insurance and license and request community service rather than paying a fine.

  3.    you might have to spend at least 24 hours in jail, you must renew your license before driving and it would be good to do that before you see the judge in court. Before you drive again you should get insurance. And don't miss your next court date.
