Question:

Traffic in San Diego area - Poway to La Jolla?

I'm starting school in La Jolla in just a couple weeks and am commuting from Poway. My class starts at 8:00 am. What is the best way to get there? Down 15 and then onto Miramar Rd.to La Jolla or across Ted Williams Pkwy and then down I-5? How is Ted Williams that time of morning? How much time do you think I should allot? Any tips would be great. Thanks.

  1. I totally agree. I live at 56 and black mt. My husband needs to leave by 7:20 to get to 5 and 56. He says 10 minutes later and the traffic multiplies. With no traffic it is a 15 minute ride. With traffic it is 30. And I leave a few minutes west then you do.

I would leave by 7:15 with parking and all then see what time you get there.

Better to be early then late.

  2. You don't say what school you are attending but I'm not sure it matters.  I wouldn't take Miramar Road during rush hour.  There are a TON of traffic signals.  Stick with the 15 to the 56 (Ted Williams).  That's your best bet.  There's also the 52 that goes straight into La Jolla but if you're going to UCSD, that won't be a better route for you.
