Traffic lights, weight sensors in the ground near the intersection vs. light sensative traffic lights????

When your car approaches an intersection and the light is red, is there way to make the traffic switch to green. I say the more modern intersections have weight sensors built into the concrete that will activate when your vehicle rolls over them. My buddy however believes that if he repeatedly flashes his high beams at the red light a built in sensor will cause the traffic light to switch to green. What say you??

  1. Traffic lights do not have weight sensors. They have magnetic pick ups that sense when something steel goes over them. That's why they sell plates to attach to the bottom of motor cycles. It's not the weight, but the amount of steel.

Flashing lights at a traffic light does nothing but make you look foolish.

Some traffic lights have both magnetic pickups and counters, so backing up and then pulling forward again may help.

Some traffic lights are simply on timers and nothing will help.

Some traffic lights are broken and you'll sit there forever or run the red light.
