Traffic may cause problems at London Olympics 2012
It has recently been revealed by Transport authorities in London that the London 2012 Olympic Games will greatly affect the traffic in the capital of England by causing a high level of traffic congestion.
In light of the expected traffic in the city of London during the Olympic Games, the transport commissioner has warned that long delays can occur at the boarding sites of trains as well as at hotspots that have been allocated on roads. In order to avoid
this from happening, the traffic on the roads as well as the railways need to experience a drop of about 60%.
Peter Hendy, the transport commissioner of London shared his views by giving the following statements: “We haven't pulled any punches. We are trying to be honest rather than massage things. At London Bridge in the really busiest times we might need to see
a 50 or 60% reduction. What's clear, from the detailed analysis we've published, is that while a large parts of London will be able to operate pretty much as normal, in other areas, including central London and around games venues, roads and public transport
networks will clearly be affected.”
The transport commissioner also made it known that only a specific percentage of the Olympic route is being reserved for the exclusive Olympic transport. Out of a total of 109 mile long Olympic route network, only 30 miles have been allocated to the exclusive
Olympic traffic.
The capital of England will be hosting the Olympic Games for the third time in its history. This will give the honor of making London the first ever city in the world to be able to host the prestigious international sporting event for a total of three times.
The first time that London had the opportunity to play host to the Olympic Games was in 1908. It was a long time later that the Olympic Games visited the capital of England once again. It was almost half a century later, in 1948 that the Olympic Games were
held again in London.
London is determined to make the third time a huge success.
