  1. Traffic ticket convictions will stay on your driving record for the rest of your life. The points, however, will only remain on your record for up to 3 years for most offenses. Insurance companies are usually willing to forgive and forget also after 3 years. More serious convictions, like DUI, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, fleeing police; may carry felony charges, jail time, and up to 5 years damage on your driving record. All convictions, no matter how small, will have an impact on your insurance rates (unless you have one of those first at fault ticket doesn't count sort of deal).

  2. There are 2 types of traffic citation - moving and non-moving...Moving tiks usually require a court appearance...In court, the judge may offer remedial training as part of the penalty to have the offense removed from your record, or just a fine or a combination of training and fine...A return trip to court is usually necessary to show the judge that the violator has completed the terms of the penalty...The judge then will announce that the offense is cleared from the violator's record...If a moving violation is ignored and not resolved, a warrant can be issued for the arrest and even licensee suspension of the violator.

Non-moving violations usually involve just a fine and no court appearance.

Any violation that is not addressed and closed out will result in the denial of license and vehicle registration renewal...Once a violation is resolved it is wiped off your record...Get a copy of your driver record at any driver's license office.

  3. Theoretically for up to seven years. It is up to the courts and the law to decide whether they count against you. Oh and  dont forget the insurance company that is going to hike your rates.
