Question:

Trail running shoes ok for regular cross country/track?

There are a pair of running shoes I really like that seem to be directed towards trail running -

My question is, would these shoes be okay to use for flat land cross country and possibly non-intense track?

Would they be okay to use for those things or would they actually make it more difficult or not work good with flat land and track?

Please help

  1. trail shoes tend to be more rugged, ie. heavier and bulkier, so you may want to look into getting spikes for races. there are spikes/lighter shoes made specifically for track, and ones specifically for cross country. you can get really technical about shoes if you want, but honestly if you're not too intense about running then it doesn't really matter.

but for sprinting events you can cut your time just by switching shoes.

  2. absolutely, I live in the Texas plains. trail shoes work great for what you are doing in track...

  3. Trail shoes are great for cross country, and they can work for track events as well, but they do tend to be a little heavier. If your running any events shorter than a 1600, I would recommend you switch to something other than a trail shoe. As far as racing spikes go, it's not a good idea to use them if you are sporting injuries, as they provide no support. If you do decide to go with spikes for track, look at a few different brands before choosing the shoe that will work best for you.

Hope this helped, and good luck with your running! ;-D
