  1. CALL ONE OF THE OFFICES IN LONDON AND ASK THEM WHAT SCHOOL DO YOU CONTACT TO BE A TRAIN DRIVER IM SHURE THEY WILL MORE THEN LIKELY HELP YOU OK THANKS HOPE THIS HELPS.........................

  2. Allot of train drivers are taken from existing staff in other jobs so try joining as a cleaner and working your way up. The cleaners job is the easiest to obtain as there is no training for the position, you just pick it up as you go along.

  3. it is very very difficult to become a driver for any UK rail company . There are very limited opportunities and a very stiff selection process including a test that up to 70% fail and you can only take twice in your life. You realistically need to contact lots of train operators and see what is available and remember that a number of them only train drivers from their existing staff so you may need to consider another way on to the railway as a first step

  4. First Capital Connect - Bedford 2 Brighton, Sutton/Wimbledon, Taking trainee drivers with no previous railway experience, I'd keep checking their website.

Yes it's reasonably hard to get through the assessment day, but its fairly hard just to get selected for it, but that's nothing compared to the first year training, assessments etc. But if you don't try you'll never know.

    Hope this helps.

  5. look up ther contact details and contact them for infomation

  6. Karen is correct. The best way in at the moment is to go for a role as a CSA (Customer Service Assistant). There's lots of advice on how to apply for this role in the link below.

  7. Go to the London Undergroud website

  8. the term is Engineer..

  9. with great difficulty, try the train websites and look for recruitment,it is difficult because many people want to be train drivers so they dont make it easy to apply for training

  10. At the present time all London Underground's recruitment of Train Operators is being done internally - that it the vacancies are only being advertised to existing staff.(As of February 2007)  I understand that there is no short term likelihood of this changing in the foreseeable future.

So - you want to be a driver but don't already work for London Underground - how do you get in?  The most appropriate route is to join London Underground as a Station Assistant. This will give you a good grounding into the organisation, the culture and the working practices and will stand you in good stead when the time comes that you do apply and, hopefully, be accepted for training as a Train Operator.

  11. Do you like being in the dark ! Try going for a train company that crosses Englands glorious countryside. First Great Western are currently advertising for external candidates for the post of Train DRIVER not engineer based at London Paddington.Click the link below and you can download the application form from their website, just don't take to long the closing date is March 16th. Give it a go good pay and conditions it's a job you'll love trust me.
