Train Journey. - Ipswich To Peterborough..Then York..???!?

Hey. on tuesday the 20th i am meant to be going to york.

i am from suffolk. so i will have to be getting on the train at ipswich and start there.

i have no idea how to get there. and want it to be a simple journey because i dont like trains lol.

i know i need to get to peterborough and then get off and get on a different train to york. i need info ton the journey. and i dont know how long it will take. 4 hours?.

will it be a direct train to peterborough from ipswich. i dont really like london and was hopeing to avoid it. i need any information i can get before tuesday or tommorow. please help!

  1. allright mate, you need to basically do what you said, If you go from Ipswich - peterborough the trains are every two hours from 08:03,10:03 etc, then change at Peterborough, this trip is usually arounf an hour and a half. Then at Peterborough you can catch a National Express service which are pretty frequent (about 2 an hour) direct to York which will also take about 1 hour and half.

The journey via Peterborough can take from between 2hr30 and 3hr30, depending on how long your have to wait for the connection at Peterborough - the trains from East Anglia don't appear to make very good connection with the East Coast trains. However, travelling this way is much better than travelling via London which takes at least 4 hours. Look at www.thetrainline.com for more information
