Train Ticket Enquiry..?

I have bought train tickets online before, and i know that you can buy return tickets as a whole and save money. Can you do this when you buy from the ticket office at the train station. For example can i buy a ticket to nottingham and back again a few days later all at the same time?

Yes, you can purchase advanced tickets at any time. Or you may be able to purchase a multi ride ticket.  With Amtrak, the fares are one way and there is no savings buying a round trip. The savings would be from purchasing early as they sell a limited number of seats at a discounted price. The closer to the day of departure the less likely there will be cheaper seats still available.

Train tickets which can be bout via the Internet can also be bought from a station ticket office, and in many cases not necessarily from the station where the journey is to commence.

Various types of ticket are available depending on the journey, the train operating company's policy and the distance travelled, as well as the intended day/s of travel. You would need to contact the TOC concerned for a proper breakdown of what tickets can be bought for what journeys. You don't say where you are going from Nottingham, and the destination is very relevant.

This is not a question which can be answered definitively on this site, because of all the variables which come into the ticketing system.

Yes you can, there are a small number of tickets that are ony available from the internet but almost all tickets can be purchased from both sources.

Your station won't charge you a booking fee either.

there are different policies for different companies ion refundable tickets, i know with Advance Purchase route "designated train only" are not refundable with ours but walk up fares (even booked in advance) and long as both outward and return portions have not been used these can be refunded.

A walk up fare is a ticket which can be purchased at the station office or fast-ticket machine on the day.

check with the company for refund policies.

Yes and often at a price comparable with that of online prices LESS postage and packing. Also doing it from a Ticket Office, will enable the Clerk and yourself to give you better times, routes and prices, often when I am helping customers I am able to find people cheaper tickets by using a different route, time or operator that would better suit the customer.

The other bonus, your talking to a person face to face, you can see what they are doing and have a proper conversation about the trip which adds to the experiance.
