  1. A few years ago (over ten years now), I was at one of west London railway stations, waiting for a train, a man came up to me, wanting to sell me his shoes!!!!!, I did not want to buy them, even if he gave them away, but he keep asking the same question, so I told him to talk to a member of staff in the end.

He went to a member of staff & started to moan about me not buying his shoes ?

I think I got on a train & left, I do not know what the railway man did, but I would not think he spend any money on used dirty shoes.

  2. Well, I got off at the wrong station coming into Rome, Italy, and while I was standing there looking at the schedules trying to figure how to rejoin my party, I was pick-pocketed.

didnt seem very funny at the time though.

If you have never had your pocket picked in Europe you havent been around the best. I had my wallet in my FRONT pocket and never felt it taken.

  3. Yes.

Nothing really funny happened.  I remember my brother and I buying chocolates and giving them to these young kids and there Mother because we felt guilty about eating in front of kids, and it was a nice thing to do.

  4. Yes. many years  ago.  We had a water gun battle and got in trouble.  Evidently some of the other passengers didn't want to get wet.

  5. I have gone from NY to Miami twice on a train. Not a great experience unless you have a sleeper. With a sleeper the dining room is free. There really has not been anything humorous about the train ride, however, the guy in the sleeper across from me took a big dookie and stunk up the whole place.

  6. In these modern times, you hardly get time for yourself. When traveling long distance, I prefer to travel by trains. It gives me time for myself.

I take a good book for reading. It is my best friend throughout the journey. I may not finish reading that book, but it gives me ample of time to reflect on my inner feelings. I get sufficient sleep during night travel.

During the day while traveling, a seat by the window is the most enjoyable experience. As is said "if you have a seat by the window, life is always interesting".

  7. got off to get some water and it took off. got left off on the station and had to send a special message to get my stuff off..... !

  8. Not my story but that of an old friend.  She got on a train in London while visiting the UK to go to Cardiff in Wales.  At the second station stop she heard something like this -

"Would Miss Williams please get off the train.  You are on the wrong train."

It was her.  She said she never worked out how they knew she was on the wrong train.

    Service, eh?

  9. NOPE! Don't do trains anymore, not since the crash.

  10. Boulogne to Chur (Switzerland). I was a member of a group of railway signal engineers on their annual tour of European railways who were eating breakfast in the restaurant car near the rear of the train. Unfortunately, unknown to us, the train was divided in Zurich. My luggage (and that of the others) went on ahead in the first portion: luckily these were retrieved at Chur after a telephone call to the Station supervisor.
