  1. I was watching Inside MMA lastnight on HDnet. Bas Rutten was talking about fighters. He said there are some great "Dojo" fighters out there that can't put it together in the ring. I guess they have trained hard, but the pressure gets to them when they step into the ring. Good training is good if you want to be a fighter or not. Just stay with it and I hope your dream comes true one day. Remember it was Bas Rutten that said it. I'm just repeating it.

  2. Boxing takes about 15 months if you are already fit and you can train at least 4 times per week.  Martial arts, especially submissions, take a lot longer to learn - maybe 5-6 years, but really you keep learning all your life, or as long as you stay involved.  I would say you should start with Boxing to start developing the basic pugilistic skills, then move to something more complicated like Judo or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Also, if you're about to be a sophomore, now would be an excellent time to get involved with your school's wrestling program.  Even if you just manage, get water bottles, put up mats, and pull laundry duty your first season - the intense workouts will really help you get lean and strong enough for your junior and senior wrestling seasons.

  3. You would be training for MMA or Boxing, not UFC or Boxing. UFC is just a league for the sport of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

  4. train in the ufc because it is the fastest growing sport in the world. and the key to being a good fighter in the ufc is knowing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu). so make sure you train hard in that and something like Muay Thai or Karate.

but sometimes no matter how hard you train you wont be the best because some people are just born with ability.

but hope fully you wont be one of those people.

    Good Luck :)

  5. Some people are natural fighters. So it depends. But, you know Chuck Liddell didn't get their over night. You'll have to devote around 10 or 11 years of your life. And its a long process.

But, in the mean time. You should check out www.fight-site.com

    It should help a little.

  6. If you have never fought before probably like 6 or 7 years.

  7. You could train an entire lifetime and still not reach the elite level.  It honestly depends on your natural ability as an athlete and a fighter.  Don't let that discourage you, though.  Train hard.  It takes years.

As far as training for the UFC, you're better off setting your goals to fight in an amateur show or small level pro show.  One has to work their way up the ranks.

  8. train in boxing!
