  1. The only way someone can answer this question is to enter in all the detailed information (date, time, eurostar, class, fare type).

I went to to the site to check out why you couldnt see prices, and after you enter the information (from-to/date/time) on the site (http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html)... you have to click BUY in order to recieve information about prices etc.  There you need to select type of fare.  To test it, I put in a standard fare from Rome to Florence and got 33 euro for 2nd class.

Also, when buying the ticket check the options regarding how liong the journey takes, obviously slower trains are cheaper.  Eurostar is the fastest, but also usually more expensive.

Also, sometimes the site will carry some good promotions (http://www.trenitalia.com/en/promozioni_... check those out to see if anything is applicable.

As for bicycle depends on how much you plan to use it.  You can also rent one in th city for the day if you like.  Rome's attractions are accessible by public transportation, Florence's main attractions are close to each other, and in Venice, I wouldnt think yoiu need it.

Hope you have a great time!

  2. I live in Italy. www.trenitalia.com should give you prices. Did you look in the right places?

Eurorail cards work fine here, so if you prefer to do that, go ahead.

I suggest you go Rome - Florence, Florence - Milan, Milan - Venice as Milan is nearer to Florence than Venice is, and so, you will save many miles of travel and some money too.

Bring your bike if you want, or rent one if necessary.

  3. rome - florence = 14,9 euro

    florence - venice= 30 euro

    venice - milan= 23 euro

  4. Cost of the train ticket is not fix. It changes mostly depending on the train's category (the fastest trains are the most expensive). However you've possibility to chcek the cost of any single combination (when is allowed to buy tickets on line and this is generally possible on the main routes you've listed in yr question).

You've to click on the English version of Trenitalia website

    http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

then fill the departure, destination, date, etc. and SEND

    You'll get the timetable

    http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/TimeTab...

on the rightside of the pahe click to buy (on the icone of the trolley)

you'll get this page for fares choice

    http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/PriceRe...

chose your rate and train class (and eventual # of passengers)

    you'll get the ticket cost

    http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/PriceRe...

with standard rate this train costs € 47,00 in 1st lass and € 33,00 in 2nd class.

by proceeding you can make seat reservation and buy the ticket (even ticketless option, that I always choose).

By following the same system with the other destinations you'll find the cost. But if you take an IC (intercity) or ICN )Intercity night) train cost is less than ES trains.

If you've Eurail tickets I guess you can use them but if you want travel ofn the quickest trains seat reservation will be always mandatory. I suggest you to contact either Eurail or the ickets counter at any station.

Eurail will be much cheaper than buying single tickets.

It's also possible to have the service of the bycicle travelling with you . There is a section in the same trenitalia website

    http://www.trenitalia.com/en/servizi_per...

However I guess if you surf properly the Trenitalia website you'll find answers to any possible question.

Just in case of doubts feel free emailing me.
