Question:

Train me for McDonald's!?

by  |  earlier

Hi! I need some help. Yesterday night (Thursday) was my first night at McDonald's. I work overnights. Know how they trained me? They left me by myself on front cash and said just do what you think is right. I've never worked a drive through or kitchen a day in my life. I've been a server. And they got mad when I didn't finish all the cleaning in time!

ANYway, I think tonight (Friday, very busy) they are planning on sticking me on grill. Without training. And I've never cooked a hamburger in my life.

Please, any tips? How do I make the food and set up the breakfast when I'm supposed to, and how do I clean? Any checklist for that stuff?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

  1. Hi, I understand why you are frustrated about working front register without any help! There's nothing more aggravating than being in front of a customer and not knowing how to ring them up! But don't worry, you'll have it down pat in just 3 days, trust me. If you do need help you should really talk to your manager about it. It's not fair for them to expect you to know how to do front register without any proper training.

The grill is really easy to use! So don't stress out about it! At my location (it's brand new, so yours might be a little different).. all you do is put the burgers down on the grill, hit the standy button, and wait for the grill to raise. After a good 15 minutes of using it you'll be a pro.

As far as breakfast goes, the manager in charge will tell you when to start preparing breakfast foods.. it's not your responsibility to know when.

    Good luck!

  2. Crack Jokes as you work are talk to them as you look Fear slows You down By thinking of it so Just tri Your Best and as You go it will become Easier . Doc Unop

  3. That is completely rude of them.  Not to mention how they got mad at YOU on the first day.  Do what you think is right?  And the customers can be evil.  I know, I'm one.

  4. I think you need to find another job, or contact corporate.  I would do it for you.  I am a McDonalds crew trainer, so if you would like to email me all of your questions, I can handle them specifically. :-)    I know every position there is. :-)  Just email me.  I can help you with anything.

  5. Goodness! That sounds like a horrible place to work! I worked at McDonalds for a little while and I had to spend 3 days training on a computer alone! I've never worked at the grill so I can't help you out there and also every register is a little different so I can't help you there either! I would either speak to the manager about having somebody train you correctly or I would look for a new job! Good Luck!
