Question:

Train of wedding gown flips up - what can I put on the bottom of the dress for it to stay in place?

My wedding gown is by Private Label by G and is taffeta. It has a semi-cathedral train but when I make a turn, the train flips up to where you can see underneath. The train has beautiful beading on it so I don't want to put any type of chemical to stiffen the fabric. Is there any type of fabric that I could weave into the bottom seam so it will stay put but is still flexible enough for when I bustle the gown? I noticed Demetrios gowns have something on the bottom but can't figure out what it is.

  1. Maybe sew some washers inside the hem seam thingie?

  2. sew some light weights into the hemline or add heavy beads to the edge of the train !!

  3. You or a seamstress can add weights in the hem.

  4. An old  trick...buy metal weights that are used to weigh down drapes so they fall right.  These can be found in a good fabric store like Joannes Fabric or a store that custom makes draperies.  They are shaped like a small ring and are sewn in to any fabric.  If you sew these in, it will keep the train laying right and if sewn in correctly, will not show when you bustle up the gown.

  5. Have a seamstress sew some sort of weight to the very tips of the train at the end of it. Have her curl the fabric over so it makes a sort of train "tortilla" if you get my meaning ;)

  6. Please let a seamstress do it. Wedding gowns are delicate and hard to work with, even if you're competent at sewing. An experienced seamstress will be able to evaluate why your train is flipping up and fix it accordingly.

  7. Can you try adding a few heavier beads that blend in with the ones that are on there already? Otherwise of there is room, sew some weights into the hemline. Don't put anything else there as it may look to fussy and too much.

  8. Call a local seamstress and ask
