  1. phone your nearest station they will tell you times and cost

  2. Either phone national rail enquiries or visit your nearest staffed station and ask for details, it's what they're there for!

People will be able to give you details on here but they are not qualified in  the full range of deals as much as the staff that are there to preach them. The best answer will come from the ticket issuing staff.

  3. There are all sorts of cheap single tickets for sale for this trip, but all of them limit you to specifying which train you're going to travel by, and at such short notice, most of them are sold out. Seeing as you didn't specify which station, I've planned to Bristol Temple Meads as I don't know the area at all, and that's the first one that came up...

But anyways, seeing as the cheapest deal I could find for you is just over forty quid - outbound leg £13.50, return leg £29.00... a Saver Return is only an extra fiver, so I'd save myself the hassle and get one of those.

However, if you really want to save a fiver, take a look at http://www.transportdirect.info/ - click "Find a Train" and then "View by Cost", type in where you want to go and when. Then go to the bottom and change where it says "Return" to "Two Singles". Have a play with the "Firstminute" tickets - some of those are still available as I write this.

    Good luck!

  4. unfortunatley the best way is to go to a ticket office and ask their advice as they have all the 'real time' information.  It usually works out cheaper if you buy a ticket in advance though so look into it as soon as possible.

Have you thought about national express (Coach)?

  5. Go to your nearest Station and enquire there, the booking should be made at least 6 weeks in advance to obtain the best deal possible, the staff there will be able to advise you of your changes, cheapest deal, seat reservations, and doing it face to face is always a lot easier.

  6. The best route going is: Northampton to Briminghame New Street, where you change for the Penzance service which runs through Bristol. Times are every hour at 13:58, 14:58, 15:58, then 16:28, 16:58, 17:03 on a Friday.

Coming back = 13:22 from Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddingtion, then you have to catch a train from Euston, (so you need to get the either the circile line or the metropolitian line to Euston Square) getting back at 17:39, then there is a train at 14:00, 15:00 & 16:00 going the same route.

I unfortantly do not know the price, but I hope that it helps.

  7. I already answered you, refer to your other question, "train issues".

  8. Bristol Temple Meads is in the City Centre and is the station you should head for.

From Northampton you can go via Birmingham New Street or via London Euston and London Paddington.

Journey times are almost the same so it will be a question of working out what you want to pay.

NRE gives the best fare as £47.50  leaving Northampton at 1043 top Euston and 1230 from Paddington arriving in Bristol at 1410.

Returning from Bristol at 1322 to Paddington and 1639 from Euston arriving in Northampton at 1802.
