  1. Its not only at Southall . Scores of times each year, people intentionally stand, jump, and drive in front of trains, figuring it's a sure way to end their lives. So, unless you change your mean of transportantion, it seem that you will be facing more train suicides.

"In Germany, where there are 18 suicides by train per week, one in 10 survives the attempt, often with severe injuries, Mishara said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that 112 people nationwide killed themselves using buses, trains, and subways in 2002, a tiny percentage of the approximately 30,000 suicides each year.

People in the railroad industry say suicide by train happens far more often than the public hears about.

John Tolman, spokesman for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, said the average train engineer will see three suicides during a career of 25 years. A commuter rail engineer will see as many as 20".

  2. sorry to here that you getting home for tea

on time is more important than the life of

some poor b*****d who`s only way out of

the problems they have is to fling themselves

in front of your f*cking train

  3. When people suicide, they want to make it something big, so that people would feel bad for them.

Pretend you're life is miserable because your girlfriend dumped you and peers are being mean to you. You want to get back at them, so when you kill yourself, you let everyone know so that they would feel bad for you and so the people would feel guilty.

On a train, there's a lot of people to witness the incident, and you don't really need time to decide what to do.  Instead of wondering about what would happen and taking poison, you could simply jump in.

  4. Because they are looking for quick way to die, and they cant back out of it if it happens so fast.

I work for the railways in aus, it happens way too often and its enought to scar you for life.

The reason it takes so long to get the trains moving again is because it becomes a crime scene, and nothing is allowed to be moved till the authorities check evrything.

Your lucky it only took 2 hours to get through, usually its more like 5 or more.

I think its very selfish of the suiciders, as they dont spare a thought for the poor train driver, who now has to live with the fact he killed someone, but they are in such a deluded state of mind, they arent thinking at all.

  5. Suicide by rail is a fast and easy way to die. In the USA someone kills themselves every 18 seconds.

  6. Suicide, stupidity, accident or ignorance.  They are all contributors to the staggering death toll yearly in the US.  One every 18 seconds, statistically.  Playing chicken with the train, ignoring warning devices, both the major contributors to the death toll.

But, for any thinking of suicide by rail, being in a big hurry and impatiently crossing tracks, do this:

Go to You Tube.  To see the video I am speaking of, you will have to register, as it is considered inappropriate for young viewers, and I agree.  Sign in is easy, fast and free.

Once in to the home page, enter this into the "search" box, "Banned from TV - train accident", then click search.  At this point you will see a disclaimer advising some graphic content is in store, which is your last chance to opt out of this particularly disturbing video.

It should be required curriculum for high school seniors.

I have been told I have banged the "safety" drum too long or too loud, but this kind of thing still happens.  As far as putting an end to suicide by rail, it can't be done, so, accept it as part and parcel of the AM or PM commute.

  7. idk...theres a small brigde in my townn with tracks underneath adn some guy jumped off of it and killed himself

  8. Well, that must be so called black point, but lets start with the fact that no one should commit suacide but face life
