hi,

my friend got fined £155 including court fees, for not buying a train ticket, will this be on his CRB check, he is worried

  1. Your local Citizens Advice Bureau would be able to answer this question. Please people buy a ticket everytime you travel on the train; you are breaking the law if you do not have a valid ticket for your journey. The only exception is if you board at an unstaffed station that has no ticket machine.


  2. Trying to travel on the train without paying the fare is theft, no different from going into a shop and taking something without paying. Fare evasion is an enormous problem on UK railways and serve to keep fares high for those of us who do pay. Yes, the conviction will be revealed on a CRB check. He should have paid his fare and then he would not have the worry of the conviction being revealed to future employers
