Train to new york?

Question

i'm gonna be moving to virginia in the fall. i want to take a train to new york to visit my friend once i'm back there.

does anyone have any links that would be helpful? i don't want you to just tell me a price, i want to see a website full of info on the trains and options.

Most definitely your best bet by train would be Amtrak along the railroad's Northeast Corridor (NEC) which runs from roughly Richmond, VA to Boston, MA.  Being that the line is almost entirely electrified and fully owned by Amtrak your trip should be quite swift and without all of the delays.
