  1. France, taking the TGV from Paris to Avignon.

Wonderful experience.   I also volunteer as operating crew on a passenger excursion rail so either as a brakeman student or fireman on the locomotive,  its an enjoyable experience either way.   Paris subways are neat.  The ones in London are busy and the ones in New York are too.

I have taken the Amtrack run from Austin to Dallas as well as the trip from Austin to Los Angeles.  Its an adventure for me.

  2. The Puffing Billy in the Dandenongs - loved it!  The time before that was catching the train to see the Roar play a game

  3. depends what kind of train. city subway ... hate... train traveling to another state... great. window view, book, decent meal, air conditioning, no traffic. a break from the world.

  4. Yeah sound like a fun idea, i want to the trip from Melbourne to Adelaide on the Overlander and then up to Darwin on the Ghan, and then all the way back, but it is a pretty expensive trip cos i want to go in the 1st class carriages.

The only trains i have been on is the Melbourne metropolitan lines and they are just c**p.

  5. love it

    to:NJ

    From new york

  6. i really love train trips....my last trip was from new delhi to pune....i enjoyed every moment....

  7. I love it. Havent had a long train trip for a long time. Took a lot of the tubes in London and love "em. I took one long trip from Dover into Victoria station back in '71. I like the rythm and like not having to drive, looking out the windows. My highschool graduatiin gift was a one way trip to Livingstone, Montana for a job at Yellowstone Park. That was fun because the train just cuts through the country.

  8. train travel is a pleasure travel.i and my friends gone picnic its very enjoyable.

  9. travelling through a mountain/hillstation in a train will be great.

i travelled in the blue mountains(nilgiris) last month.

  10. My wife and I have traveled many times by train.  It could cost more than an air ticket!  Especially the Acela Express from Boston to Washington DC.  That started off very nice but the second year after it was introduced they started to push tip jars in your face and that's after you paid as much as a first class air ticket for the same distance.  Trains are nice.  You can watch the world go by and it's fun to eat in the dining car.  I would love to take a sleeper across the USA!  If you are lucky enough to get a clean toilet, I recommend travel by train!  Have fun!!

  11. I often go to the city movies by train & sometimes southbank & to my Daughter etc etc & i love the trains!!!

went to NSW by train & loved that but would only leave early morning for that without a sleeper as its 18 odd hours

  12. From Lincoln to Birmingham (England.)  Far less stressful than taking the car, probably faster too.  Far more relaxing... take a book and an i-Pod, you can unwind and not have to worry about how to get to your destination.

  13. many years ago . to the north. it was fun.

  14. I love traveling by train.  Nothing better than getting a sleeper car and going West.

The best sleep I've ever had has been in a train.
