Trainee Train Driver for Firstscotrail. what questions are you asked for telephone interview? Any tips please?

I have been shortlisted from my online application and i have a telephone interview booked for next week. They told me this will last approx 15 - 20 mins and i will be asked about 3 things, my motivation for working with the company, previous experience and work related examples? I guess this must be like how would you deal with a particular situation etc. I am callinf for all train drivers, people who work with firstscotrail to help me cos i would really like the job. I just dont know what questions they are going to throw at me and i want to have the time to look into it a bit more. Has anyone applied, can anyone help??? Please respond asap. Thanks.

You'll need to think of some examples of when you have showed initiative, common sense and perhaps practical mechanical knowledge.  Also examples of when you have helped people in the course of your work.

Also, problem solving is a key skill, so if you've ever had to fix something (even if it's just a pushbike), that would be something.

With previous experience, they need to know you can work as part of a team, and are enthusiastic and helpful toward the general public or customers - again, think of specific examples.

For motivation for First Scotrail, do research in to the company, First Group in general and what their plans for the future are.  It's all there on the 'Net.  Memorise.

If you're as keen as you sound, you'll be ok.  Just stay calm and cool.

you have answered your own question... read it again... you must be age 21+

you will have to have a formal interview, face to face, then have 8-10 exams.. (degree+ standard) and then if you get through all that, 2 years minimum training...  also a criminal record check too...  good luck!!
