Trainer, Henry De Bromhead, has set in mind targets beyond two-mile for Sizing Europe
The County Waterford trainer, Henry De Bromhead, has some extensive plans laid out for his ten-year-old bay gelding, Sizing Europe. The trainer is completely convinced and confident about the form of his under charge and has decided for him trips that are over two miles.
The two-time winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase has entries for the William Hill King George VI Chase which will be held on the Boxing Day at Kempton, he is also being seriously considered for the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown for the 27th of December and finally he can also be seen contending the Lexus Chase during the same meeting on the very next day.
The unbeaten in the 2012 campaign till now, should bear in mind that the level of competition will not be forgiving in the least bit.
After filling in the runner-up and the third position in the Hennessy Gold Cup, trainers, Paul Nicholls and Mouse Morris, both have directed their under charges to the Lexus Chase, a better option of plucking the better one out of the two.
Mouse Morris will race First Lieutenant while Paul Nicholls will once again take his chances with one of his best, Tidal Bay.
"It was a pity the ground was tacky, but he ran a big race. He jumped super and was given a great ride - what more can you ask? I'll have to talk to Michael (O'Leary, owner), but we'll probably go for the Lexus," Morris stated.
And as far as the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown is concerned, the defending contestant, Big Zeb, might just not be in the mood to let others take away the long restored honour from him.
Despite all odds, Sizing Europe’s connections are full of faith and are not backing off.
"We haven't decided yet. We have three options - the King George, the Lexus and the Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown. I think he has already proved he gets further. He was second to Kauto Star (at Down Royal in 2010) and he was all-out on very heavy ground last year at Down Royal.
"I don't know how anybody can make a case that he is not a three-mile horse."
