Trainer, John Gosden has much more to offer than the most anticipated, Ladbrokes St Leger
The winning trainer of the Group 1 St Leger at Doncaster for the last two seasons, trainer, John Gosden is bidding for the third success in row with his entry Michelangelo this year. The team with the stable jockey, William Buick, won the honour in 2011 with Masked Marvel, and with Arctic Cosmos in 2010.
Galileo’s three-year-old bay colt is already the declared second favourite against the thundering success from the Aidan O’Brien stable, Camelot.
Triumphant in two out of the three races that came his way, the bay colt out of mare, Intrigued, is being pointed for the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood, and for now has stepped away from the Thursday, July 12, 2012 race at Newmarket. If this will be the last race for the Denford Stud And Balmerino Bloodstock bred before the Ladbrokes St Leger in September at Doncaster, has not been brought out in the open.
"I'm not sure we'll run both of them - Shantaram will probably run and we were more thinking of the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood with Michelangelo," Gosden said.
The hall mark trainer has held on to his promise of bringing back to the tracks way more action and thrill specially after Nathaniel landed the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse (British Champions Series) on 7th July at Sandown over a mile and two furlongs.
Less than an hour before this, Nathaniel’s full sister, Great Heavens took charge of the Group 2 Bet365 Lancashire Oaks (Fillies And Mares) at Haydock over a mile and four furlongs.
He added: "Gatewood could be a possible Melbourne Cup horse but he needs to qualify by winning a Group race. He could run in the Glorious Stakes at Goodwood. Questioning is going for the Arlington Million and Camborne could go for the American St Leger at Arlington Park. Newfangled will run at York (Lowther Stakes)."
The line-up of events that John Gosden has penned down for his trainees is truly exquisite and extensive however, the limelight remains on his third in row success at the Doncaster marvel in September. Winning that will end his season like none other ever before.
How much fighting space will Camelot make provision for in the most awaited Group 1 flat event, stays to be revealed.
