Trainer, Nicky Henderson secures chances with his Champion Hurdle team
The hallmark trainer and the genius of his profession trainer, Nicky Henderson, has spread out the aces of his stable in a highly immaculate manner. The supervisor wants to make the most out of the season which suits him the best and has been the major source
of his success stories. His Champion Hurdle team will include some of the best that he has tried before and will take calculated chances with them again.
The highlight of his stable, Long Run, is directed for the Grade 1 King George VI Chase after he ended as the runner-up in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on 24th November, 2012.
The favourite entry was defeated by Paul Nicholls’ trained, Silviniaco Conti, who had the final 2 ½ lengths in his favour with jockey, Ruby Walsh, onboard.
"Long Run was probably a bit fresh last year," Henderson said, "I don't know if I'd got a bit complacent about it, [but] I was aware that it was a prep race for the King George. He got into an awful boxing match with Kauto Star, and Kauto punched his lights
out, to be fair.”
According to him, his best contender for the upcoming four weeks is the extra ordinary winner of the Coral Hurdle, Oscar Whisky.
“Oscar Whisky at the moment would stick to two and a half because he is so good at that distance. There's not many horses going to beat him at that.”
Another hopeful for the season is the five-year-old, Darlan, who had to be withdrawn from the Racing Post Hurdle line-up earlier during the season.
This time around, there are no pressing ground concerns and brown gelding holds a sure shot entry in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle.
"Darlan is going to the Fighting Fifth, Grandouet will go to the International at Cheltenham and Binocular will be looking to the Christmas Hurdle and if we run two in the Christmas Hurdle so be it.”
His another hopeful for the campaign is the five-year-old French bay/brown gelding, Grandouet. The trainer will be pointing him for the Cheltenham card this Saturday.
Nicky Henderson has his chances secured in the Christmas Hurdle on 26th December as he will get represented by the John P. McManus owned, Binocular.
