Trainer Cowell has strike a code to punters that Prohibit will attain the big success in the Nunthorpe Stakes
Robert Cowell reminds the punters, that his six-year-old bay gelding, Prohibit, will score a hit, in the upcoming event on Friday.
Owners, Dasmal’s, Rix’s, Barr’s, Morley’s and Mrs Penney’s, gelding, was the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes' (British Champions' Series & Global Sprint Challenge) purse winner, scheduled in June.
The champion, under jockey Jim Crowley, covered the distance of 5 furlongs on good turf by reaching the finish line in a spectacular manner and winning a purse of £170,310.00.
The title holder is all set to compete against his contenders in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes' flathorse race.
This prestigious event is held every year in the month of August at the York Racecourse in UK.
The race was previously sponsored by William Hill from 1976 till 1989, in the course of this time, the event was known as William hill sprint Championship.
Now the event is being sponsored by Coolmore, in which the juveniles can compete against the elder horses.
Last year in 2010, Sole Power, mounted by jockey, Wayne Lordan, won the Group 1 Nunthrope Stakes.
The four-year-old bay gelding, gave a hit in the race by leading the race over 75 yards and achieving a purse of £136,248.00.
Prohibit, the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes' champion, will be racing for the purse on 12th of August 2011.
On 5th of July, 2011, Group 2 Prix Du Gros-Chene event was held, in which Prohibit raced against his contender, Wizz Kid. The three-year-old filly, defeated Prohibit and won the purse of £63,879.31 for owner, Mme Maeve Mahony.
The bay filly raced well in the final 1 ½ furlongs, under jockey Iortiz Mendizabal, and railed marvelously to the finish line.
Prohibit raced well when he was 50 yards out, to lead, but he was not lucky enough to achieve the first position, and stood second in the race, with the purse of £24,655.17.
The young two-year-old Bapak Chinta of United States of America is also one of the horses racing for the first position. Trainer Kevin Ryan’s gray colt came first in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes, held on 16th of June 2011.
The £42,577.50 purse winner raced in the centre under jockey, Phillip Makin, and ran very well in the final furlongs. Owner T A Rahman’s victory was confirmed in the final 100 yards.
Trainer Robert Cowell has his fingers crossed for Friday’s Nunthorpe Stakes, in which two of his stallions, Prohibit and Wizz Kid, will race against each other.
