Trainer Dale Romans plans ahead of the summer
The veteran horseman, Dale Romans is currently feared in the North American horse racing circuit, as he possess one of the most potent horses, who are responding to his ever call, and piling up on the victories, as the trainer himself is on the verge of
claiming the Churchill Downs meet yet another time.
However, the Churchill Downs meet will take two four-day weeks to wind up, and then there is a full summer to engage in, and Dale Romans after such a brilliant start to the season isn’t going to sit and let fate decide what happens at the end of the season.
The conditioner is on his toes, and he is already plotting out the summer and beyond. He has no other choice, because when someone has the likes of Shackleford, Dullahan, Silver Max, Little Mike, Afleeting Lady in their stable, than they have to be ahead
of the game to be where Romans is right now.
The 4-year-old son of Forestry is exiting two brilliant back-to-back victories. Shackleford defeated favourites to win those races, starting with the 2011 champion sprinter, Amazombie, who was defeated by Shackleford in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes,
and then Caleb’s Posse in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park.
W. D. Cubbedge and Michael Lauffer’s homebred is pointed at the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga on 4 August, although Romans might run him before that in the Monmouth Cup at Monmouth Park on 7 July.
On 21 July, 2012, the Virginia Derby will be held at Colonial Downs, and Dullahan along with Silver Max are pointed towards it.
Dullahan is coming off a seventh place finish in the Belmont Stakes, and prior to that he finished third in the Kentucky Derby, while Silver Max will be running for his sixth consecutive win.
Second to Royal Delta in the Fleur de Lis Stakes, Afleeting Lady has an option between the Delaware Handicap on 21 July, or the Molly Pitcher on 29 July at Monmouth Park.
On the other hand, the juvenile Romans Avenue, will start at Churchill Downs in the Bashford Manor Stakes on 30 June, 2012.
