Trainer De Kock as strong as ever on his 31st March night stance
The South African trainer, M De Kock has not been disturbed the least bit about the outcomes of the recent races of his horses. He is still speculative and anticipative about the races that are yet to be staged at the 2012 Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Three of his horses have been favourites for the eighth fixture of the Carnival on 9th February however, only one of the entrants made it to the winners’ enclosure.
The four-year-old bay colt of Encosta De Lago out of Mosaique Bleue, Mutahadee, was the 13/8 favourite for the Dubal Trophy Handicap on 9th February, which he won on a field of twelve competing.
Runner up for the race was again from the stable of De Kock, the five-year-old Anaerobio.
The trainer said: "Mutahadee has really surprised us with his two wins this year as he does not show as much at home”.
Mickdaam finished a respectable second in the Grade 3, UAE 2,000 Guineas sponsored by Dubal against the 2/1 favourite Kinglet trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni.
"He too was running over what will be his minimum trip and we are really looking forward to stepping him up in trip for the Al Bastikiya and UAE Derby."
De Kock trained Master Of Hounds was placed second in the Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 on 12th January and finished third after the winner in the Group 2, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 sponsored by Dubal on 9th February. He was entered
as a 6/4 favourite.
"With a clear passage he would have been closer and he will have come on a lot for that, while Master Of Hounds is also going to be better stepped up to the World Cup trip. He too will improve from tonight."
The horse that De Kock had not raced for nearly a year and fifty-three weeks to be precise, is the six-year-old Bold Silvano. The horse was sent as a 4/6 favourite for the Group 3, Firebreak Stakes sponsored by Dubal on 9th February. The horse
of Silvano out of Bold Saffron, stormed through the mile track only to finish fifth.
De Kock wishes each of his trainees to be ready for the grand racing night on the 31st of March, yet again his emphasis remains a little too clear on Bold Silvano and Master Of Hounds. The two are the fiercest among his ammunition.
