Trainer Jack Loew terms Hank Lundy as ‘overrated’ – Boxing News
Jack Loew, veteran trainer for Dannie Williams, believes HABF champion Hank Lundy is highly overrated and that his reign is at risk against Williams. Dannie Williams will be taking on Hank Lundy on March 30 on ESPN Friday Night Fights. The event will take place at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The bout between both the pugilists will be a 10-round main show for the event.
Hank Lundy, who currently stands with 21 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie and 11 knockouts in his portfolio, is the current NABF champion and is nicknamed ‘Hammerin’. On the other hand, Dannie Williams is an emerging star with 20 wins, 1 loss and 16 knockouts in his portfolio and is nicknamed ‘Dangerous’.
In his recent media interaction, Loew spoke about the bout and commented on Lundy’s abilities. He said, “Lundy is a very good, slick fighter. But he’s so overrated. I applaud his promoter and management team for picking good opponents for him to look good against. (John) Molina may be the only lightweight more overrated and he stopped Lundy. I don’t care if he was ahead; Lundy lost that fight and was knocked out. I’ve been a fan of two-time world champ David Diaz but he was a shot fighter a year before he fought Lundy."
He further said that Diaz is a good champion but he has never been a big puncher. He added that still Diaz was able to hurt Lundy which means Lundy is not a big puncher either.
He further added, “I think it’s going to be a good fight for three, four rounds, until Lundy feels Dannie’s power. Dannie’s going to pressure him from the start. Lundy will fold and Dannie will take him out.”
Loew is highly confident over his fighter’s abilities. He said that he could not see the fight going beyond seven rounds. He further added that if Danny Williams gets hold of Lundy from the start, the bout would be over within three rounds. He then said that Danny is well prepared and he will get to Lundy right away and that once Danny wins he will be off the bigger and better things.
