Trainer Kevin Ryan pleased with Tiddliwinks’s success in the Duke of York Totepool Stakes
Tiddliwinks landed a shocking victory with jockey, Jamie Spencer, in the Group 2 Duke of York Totepool Stakes at York on 16th May, 2012.
The son of Piccolo, out of mare Card Games, downed the Eve Johnson Houghton trained, The Cheka, by a mere head, and impressed his connections with his victory.
Trainer, Kevin Ryan, was particularly pleased with the way he performed. Bogart, who is also Ryan’s trainee, finished in fourth place.
The victory was a huge improvement for the Guy Reed owned bay gelding, as he showed remarkable progress from his last race at Newmarket.

Mounted by jockey, Neil Callan, he finished tenth in the Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes on 19th April, 2012.
Regarding his runner’s performance, the trainer stated that:
"We really fancied him today and Bogart will improve an awful lot for that run too. It means an awful lot to me to have a winner for Guy Reed (owner) at this meeting. He's a huge supporter of mine and a great man.”
The six-year-old gelding’s mount Jamie Spencer worked his magic on this runner, which gave him the start that he needed.

About this the trainer said: “when Jamie gave him a squeeze he just took off. Thankfully, he held on.”
Kevin Ryan reflected on his previous performances, and said that the runner had some misfortune along with some bad draws.

He emphasised on the fact that the soft to soft ground at Newmarket was not suitable for his horse and that’s why he faced a minor setback.
Eve Johnson Houghton, the runner-up’s trainer, was immensely pleased with the way, The Cheka, ran and stated that there is more to come from the six-year-old gelding.

Houghton stated that the gelding will race at Royal Ascot and wouldn’t mind if he finished as a runner-up to Black Caviar, the undefeated mare who is under the training of Peter Moody.
The race was disappointing for Mayson, who landed a victory at Newmarket in the Group 3 Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes in the beginning of May. In this race, he fell short of expectations and finished thirteenth.
