Trainer Nick Colton’s Shelbourne Cheri expected to shine at the Judith Heath Kennel Sweepstakes
Trainer Nick Colton has high hopes from his greyhound Shelbourne Cheri regarding his performance in the upcoming Judith Kennel Sweepstakes in at Oxford Stadium.
Shelbourne has a previous record of winning the qualifying round of the Judith Kennel Sweepstakes in a minimal time of 26.95 seconds.
Shelbourne Cheri is the daughter of the famous greyhound champion Westmead Hawk and Shelbourne Nina. Needless to say Westmead Hawk has passed on his outstanding racing genes to his daughter.
The two year old greyhound b***h made her debut last year in October and has had a total of five victories since then.
She is a fighter since she usually finishes second in a race she competes in if she is unable to claim the victory.
In the qualifying round Shelbourne Cheri had been going at a 10+ speed rate on the race track, a quality rare in greyhounds. There were 9/4 odds in favour of her in this race.
She had defeated the runner up Stans World by a wide margin of fifty two points, another rare characteristic for a greyhound racer. She is undoubtedly at the peak of her career and perhaps this is the reason behind Nick Colton’s big plans for her.
Although Shelbourne Cheri has a golden record in her favour for the upcoming race tonight, er place in tap five might make things a bit rough for her.
Greyhounds Winetavern Champ and Alfies Cracker would be placed in her the trap adjacent to hers. This order of placement might lead to some initial collision and struggle to take the lead of the race. However, once Shelbourne Cheri manages to take the lead
of the race there would be little doubt about her victory tonight.
Another greyhound named Parkill Be Good that has been trained Nick Colton would be competing tonight and some bettors believe that Shelbourne Cheri has good reason to be wary of this particular contender since both have been schooled in the art of racing
by the same trainer.
Stans World might also give some competition to Shelbourne Cheri but Nick Colton probably has armed Shelbourne Cheri against Stans world’s style of racing and she would know how to dissuade this greyhound.
Strangely, the odds (6/4) placed in Shelbourne Cheri’s favour for the race tonight are less than the odds (9/4) placed in her favour in the previous qualifying race. This fact can probably be attributed to the huge prize money of this race which is worth
four hundred pounds.
Nick Colton has his fingers crossed with two of his best greyhounds competing tonight with higher hopes associated with Shelbourne Cheri. One can only hope that lady Luck decides to favour Nick Colton swift stalwart.
