Trainer Robert Cowell scratches Prohibit from the Betfred.com Temple Stakes
It seems that Robert Cowell’s talented trainee, Prohibit, will not be competing in the Betfred.com Temple Stakes (British Champions Series), due to take place at Haydock on 26th May, 2012.
The surface of the track is not suitable for the seven-year-old, as it has been labelled good to firm.
Via Twitter, Robert Cowell stated:
"Prohibit unlikely participant for the Temple Stakes on Saturday, ground too lively so will head to Chantilly a week later.
"Monsieur Joe and Spirit Quartz are intended runners for the Temple Stakes, both of which are in really good order."
Since the son of Oasis Dream, out of mare Well Warned, has been scratched from this race, he is opting for the Prix Du Gros-Chene, which will take place on 3rd June, 2012.
Prohibit would have been a great inclusion in the Betfred.com Temple Stakes, because he brings a different range of challenge wherever he participates.
The last time the runner notched a victory was on 11th September, 2011, at Longchamp, where the surface of the track was labelled good to soft.
Teamed with jockey, Jim Crowley, Prohibit raced with a 9-2 chance, and made the most of it in the Group 3 Qatar Prix Du Petit Couvert.
Working well with the rider, he narrowly bagged the victory, a head before R. Chotard’s charge, Mar Adentro.
However, this season is going rough for the Dasmal, Rix, Barr, Morley, and Mrs. Penney owned runner, as he failed to post a respectable finish in all of his three starts this year.
With rider Jim Crowley on his back, his most recent performance took place at Meydan where he competed in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD with a 12-1 chance.
However, he fell short of expectations, and finished in thirteenth place among a line-up of fifteen runners.
Cowell seems to be counting on Spirit Quartz and Monsieur Joe in the event at Haydock, as both of them have been delivering consistent performances.
Between these two, Monsieur Joe looks in better shape, as he recently lost the victory by a short-head to Beyond Desire, in the Group 3 Prix De Saint-Georges at Longchamp on 13th May, 2012.
