Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor confident of Delegator in Duke of York Blue Stakes – Horse Racing News
The champion race-horse Delegator will be going on to participate in the Duke of York Blue Square Stakes that will be taking place on Wednesday, May 11.
This race will be run over a distance of six furlongs and it is the first time that the colt will be running a race over this short distance. Nonetheless, his trainer Saeed Bin Suroor is confident that his trainee will be able to handle this distance and
showcase the best of his talent and potential in this race.
The champion race-horse Delegator was the second place finisher to Sea The Stars in the 2000 Guineas that took place in 2009. He has almost always started races that were run over a distance of a mile. However, in the last racing season, he also ventured
in the meetings that were run over a distance of seven furlongs.
In the York meeting, which is a Group 2 event, he will be ridden by the jockey Frankie Dettori. He is expected to give an impressive performance and if he succeeds in doing so, he will have greater chances of being a part of the Golden Jubilee Stakes, for
which he is being quoted as a 25-1 favourite.
When the satisfied trainer of Delegator, Saeed Bin Suroor was approached by the correspondents regarding the plans of the race-horse for the upcoming meetings of the season, he was reported as saying, “Delegator has shown a lot of speed in his races and
I think that six furlongs is the right distance for him to try now.”
He further went on to say, “He worked well on Sunday morning and he is in good form at the moment. He will improve for his first start of the season, but I’m looking forward to seeing gin run a nice race.”
For this particular meeting, Delegator is being quoted as 7-1. On the other hand, the same sponsors have been revealed to back the race-horse Inler with odds of 11-1 for this race. Inler trains under the supervision of the famed trainee Brian Meehan.
