Trainer undecided about Bog Warrior’s entry on Sunday
Bog Warrior’s trainer, Tony Martin, has still not decided on launching his gelding in the Dr. P. J. Moriarty Novice Chase this Sunday, as the talented runner has also entered the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Novice Chase which is set to be held at Naas
today, February 11.
Though Bog Warrior is the 1 to 11 hot favourite for both the events, but his trainer wanst to choose the best race for his runner.
In today’s 2 mile long race, the novice gelding will run against Blackstairmountain, Slieveardagh, Donnas Palm, Glenstar and King’s Bastion.
On the other hand, he is set to face four competitors including Call The Police, Lambro, Last Instalment and Shot From The Hip on Sunday.
Martin believes that if, Bog Warrior, is allowed to run in two back-to-back events, he may lose his momentum, and this will not be a good sign for his future races.
While speaking to the media yesterday, the star trainer said, “He is a definite for Saturday. That's the race for him. His declaration for the Grade 1 at Leopardstown on Sunday is purely precautionary.”
He further told, “You never know what might happen on Saturday and it's nice to have a back-up plan."
Bog Warrior possesses an outstanding track record. Since his debut in January 2011, he has won four out of his total six races so far. From March to December 2011, he registered a hat-trick by winning three in a row.
Foaled in May 2004, the eight-year-old gelding is owned by Gigginstown House Stud.
The young runner’s recent stats show that he is currently packed with form, and likely to perform well in today’s race. His outcome in this competition matters a lot for his chances to run tomorrow.
Bog Warrior’s race at Naas is expected to be an awe-inspiring and mouth-watering event. The bookmakers seem to be quite hopeful that the gelding will not dump their dreams today. The trainer also expects a good run from his trainee, who has been impressive
so far in his short career.
