Trainers speculative about the eighth fixture of the 2012 Dubai World Cup Carnival
After losing the UAE Derby sponsored by the Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah on 26th March, 2011 by a nose, Master of Hounds is now stepping up for the Group 2, $250,000 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 on 9th February
at the Meydan.
This however would not be the first start of M De Kock’s trainee, as Master of Hounds has already raced his seasonal debut, and that also at Meydan on 12th January in the Grade 3, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 sponsored by Etisalat
in which he finished as the runner up.
Thus the second Al Maktoum Challenge would be his second start for the new season.
Six-year-old bay horse, Bold Silvano who won the Group 3, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 sponsored by Etisalat on 3rd February 2011, after being sent as the 7 to 4 favourite of the race, he is now headed for his seasonal debut
in the Grade 3, $200,000 Firebreak Stakes as the undercard on the Group 3, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 card.
It will be raced over a mile and has a lineup of nine contestants.
Besides these two stable mates, there is a three-way rivalry that will resurface on the same date and place. Steven Burridge trained Dark Matter, and the Godolphin pair, Kinglet and Rassam will be coming together in the Group 3, $250,000 UAE 2,000
Guineas after conquering the first three positions in the UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial that was held on 12th January.
The seven-year-old brown horse of Lemon Drop Kid, out of mare Tough Broad, Richard’s Kid has not raced since 26th March, 2011, which also resulted in him landing twelfth out of the fourteen contesting.
Under S Seemar’s training, Richard’s Kid will be taking part in the Grade 2, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 on 9th February.
The rest of the lineup comprises of Biondetti, Dubai Prince, Mendip, Prince Bishop, Firebet, Pisco Sour, Submariner, Haatheq and Hunting Tower.
The Grade 3, Firebreak Stakes will have Alazeyab, Shamalgan, African Story, Ecliptic, Barbecue Eddie, Derbaas, Bold Silvano, Tamaathul and Sandagiyr competing.
This eighth fixture of the Carnival will include three additional handicaps besides that Group 2, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2, Group 3 UAE 2,000 Guineas and the Group 3, Firebreak Stakes.
