Training camp at the University of Bath to help Malaysian players in the 2011 World Championships
The Malaysian national squad is attending a training camp at the University of Bath in England, where all their shuttlers will remain busy in preparing themselves for the 2011 World Championships. The camp at Bath will remain active until August 4 and certainly
would help shuttlers to perform well at the Championships, which will be held in London from August 8-14.
The Malaysian shuttlers from all categories are working in centralised training sessions, which will help them in getting familiar with the conditions in England. This camp holds paramount significance for the Malaysian team, as it will help them in getting
accommodated with the court conditions at the Wembley Arena quite easily.
Coach, Tey Seu Bock, said that the peaceful environment at Bath will certainly help in reducing the stress and tension of shuttlers and coaches for the upcoming mega event. Hopes are high for World Number One, Lee Chong Wei, to win the Men’s Singles title
at the World Championships as the shuttler is in amazing form.
Seu Bock said, “I can feel the tension mounting – especially when everyone around me keeps talking about Chong Wei’s chances of winning this year’s World Championships. Coaches feel the pressure too.”
The Malaysian team left for England yesterday and they are scheduled to start training from today at the University of Bath. The Malaysian coaches along with the shuttlers will remain busy in the camp to make their players mentally comfortable and better
prepared for the mega event.
Malaysia has been unlucky so far, as no Malaysian player has performed well in the mega event. The Malaysians failed to win the crown in all categories of the tournament, which include Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed
Doubles.
The upcoming event is a great opportunity for Malaysian players to break the deadlock and chances are quite high that top seed, Lee Chong Wei, might grab the Men’s Singles title. If he is able to accomplish the feat, Wei will become the first Malaysian shuttler
in history to bring glory to Malaysia.
