Im going into 9th grade and have decided to do cross country this fall. I did track for the first time this past season and loved it, but i was a 400m runner....

Anyways, I have been starting to train for cross country, And i can run a mile with ease, and 2 miles with some effort.

Am I doing okay for my start?

in August my uncle is having a cross country camp in the mountains, Do you think I can be in shape by then? If so, how far should I push myself?

  1. ur off to a good start but pick up the pace a little if u can run 3 mies u will be fine good luck

  2. Is this Steven Munoz. Well even if your not then yes that is a good start. My coach made us run rediculous miles it was like 6-7 in less than an hour. It made me get better and now i can run for 5 miles with ease. THe key is to increase mileage once you get better at running

  3. just go.

another wat to train is to run with weights in the cold so your blood gets used to working harder. Other than that, work on your cardio. Also, have a daily stretch routine

  4. your situation sounds just like mine. im going into 10th grade, but this year (as a freshmen) i ran XC for the first time.when i started the season i could probably do less than you can do now, and i ended up a varisty runner. a big thing you need to focus on besides for the actually running is streching and drinking tons of water. always stretch and drink. learning the proper way to breath and the right running form will do wonder for your running. also try and get someone to run with you when you go out, it will take your mind off the run and help you be further without having to force yourself too. a running buddy is great motivation.  u can defiantly be in shape by august. just keep running and as you go make your runs longer. but mix things up too. maybe one day do a shorter workout but do it fast, then do a recovery run where you go like four miles but pretty slow. good luck!
