  1. Tips: Practice this a lot && you'll be amazing.

    Home Position

    1. SS triangle

    2. Superman

Your Home Position: will be feet shoulder-hip spaced apart, your hands will form a triangle fingers (index, middle, ring, pinky) are pointed down. your thumbs should be about an inch below your belly-button.

SSTriangle: From Home you are going to take 2 steps. a left, right forward steps. And pull your "home" up to your forhead.

Your hands are going to sit right above your forehead.

*Depending on your coach they may want you to take a right left right series all the way to the ten foot line but that is usually only for pulling off the net after the ball is set.

    * You are always going to take a left, right series ( some ppl think its like hitting.) Because if you take a right, left then your ball is going to follow your feet which will probably lead right to the net.

&& Lastly, Superman. This is probably the most important step in the Set. From your Forehead You are going to bend your knees (just to give you power. don't squat) and throw your arms forward and your fingers should be out in front of you like "superman".

    Hope I helped.

Training: You need to do squats. I can't exaggerate how much this will help you. When you do your squats make sure your knees don't come in front of your toes. For Intense training: hold out dumbbells out in front of you. Also do a lot of lunges.

Take a Yoga class (or just buy a tape) I am much more flexible && stronger now becuase of it. Trust me its worth it.

Hands: lay down on the ground and set the ball straight up. Just do it for certain periods of time. See how long you can go. It really helps just working your arms && making the ball go where you want it to go.

  2. to practice make a box with tape on a hight wall then see how long you can hit in the box and remember stay on the tips of your toes

  3. run

  4. With the limited info I have in your question, the answer is yes, train your legs and your hands. To complete that training work your complete core. My setters are typically the best athletes on the team so train to that end. Concentrate on setting a consistent ball, if you have a basketball goal available with a square on it, work on setting the ball to the top line of the square from free throw distance, top of the key distance and bottom of the key distance, work on hitting that spot initially 50 times from each distance then work on accuracy by shifting to the baseline and trying to make baskets from those 3 distances also 50 times. To bring your legs into play run after each ball, be moving as the set is going up and if you miss set the ball in the basket on the bounce (you might have to pump up the ball a little more than normal). Doing this drill will give you an eye for the heighth of your sets and the distance to set consistently and give you an edge with your arm strength and leg strength when you work at it. Good luck in your next season
