So here is the deal. When I was in high school I was a track and field fiend and I was pretty good too. I specialized in the 200 and I once ran a P.R. of 20.9 (hand-timed) and I consistently ran in the mid 21's. I was also an all-state sprinter and received college offers.

I really don't know what happened but I started to get injured during my freshman year in college (shin splints) and I had two lack luster seasons before I finally quit to focus on my academics.

I am now 27, just finished law school and all this olympic stuff is getting to my head. I still keep in decent shape, I play Rugby for fun and I am by far the fastest beating all the younger 17- 20 year-old kids (not saying much though).

What are the chances that I start training and get myself into World-class shape?

P.S. I was about 170 lbs (6ft 1) when I ran my PR's and I am now about 199 though it is mostly muscle.

  1. I don't know what your chances would be exactly, but other people have done it.  Good luck.

  2. Everyone is different!  So, the numbers may not be ''for'' you, BUT you will never know unless you try. You will probably have to lose some muscle though (weight). Best of luck to you, even if you are not getting fast enough at least you tried and can really respect what the athletes do.
