Ok, I want too train my parakeets. But the problem is that when they were caught, the people who caught them used thier hands. soo now when I lift my hand up (even when I'm like 4 feet away) they go berserk!

and i want to train them (have them sit on my finger on command and come to me on command). another roadblock in this problem is, they have a huge cage. i mean over 5 feet long and 4 feet wide. and 6 feet tall. so i can't reach them all the time. i want them to trust my hand. and trust me. but i dunno how. The cage is im my room, and their used to it (i think) and the room, and me, but not my hands, or anyones hands.

  1. Start with talking to them. Show them your hands while they are safely within their cage. Do certain things around them at certain times a day. Build a pattern (it doesnt have to be strictly followed, just a general this than that).

Although it may take time and seem tedious you have to build a trust relationship with your birds. Do not get angry or do anything that could break the trust you build.

  2. i had a freaked out one too but i just kept trying i would hold them even if they bit me and finally he learned i was his friend!! he turn out to be the most awesome bird ive ever had!!

he would stick his beak through the cage for me to kiss it!!
