  1. why would you want a player to take a deep pass?

they should be running faster, deep passes dont get you any gain and can often get sloppy when throwing deep

but you could always make up your own drill trying to do this by setting up a ruck or maul situation, and placing a cone at the depth you want to player to start running from, and a cone where they should accept the pass from

if that makes sense, good luck

    (from my experience/opinion)

  2. It means, when play reaches a break down, or slows, your players must react and act accordingly in order to create an angle from which to launch their run.

  3. it depends on the age of the children as certain ages will not be able to get the concept an easy way of doing this drill is to have your players get into fours an dhave 1 on the floor laying down 1 on 1 knee 1 on 2 knees and 1 standing then set them all off together that will create a natrual depth to the back line

  4. The instruction is telling you to teach the players to get back into their playing positions as QUICKLY as possible, after a breakdown (ruck / maul). That means that from the scrumhalf, past the centres down to the wing, Everyone must be ready ASAP.

This is particularly important for the backline players. They need to form the wing as quickly as possible to get the ball down the line as skillfully as possible.

There are many drills you could practice but are unfortunately too long to type out on here.

Goodluck, hope you make a winning team!!!

  5. the best way to train this type of play is to get your backline together and have them get a constant place which they stand in relation to the person inside them ....for example 4 steps back two steps to the side or something like that..... then have them run with the ball through gates and get them hitting a line and sprinting back to position..... when ever they arnt in position its a simple matter of tough love
