Training session planned by New Zealand Cricket for Emerging Players Tournament
A training session has been planned by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to recruit and prepare the players for the upcoming Emerging Players Tournament, which is due later this summer.
A mix of seniors and freshmen will be assembled for the New Zealand A team, which will participate in the tournament.
The four-team tournament will start in August. The teams featuring in the event include New Zealand A, Australian Institute of Sport, South Africa and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
As it is evident from the name, the tournament is especially designed for the youngsters who have the talent. The event provides a platform to the emerging cricketers to learn and exhibit their capabilities.
The tournament, since its inauguration, has been a mega success story. It has brought into limelight many talented cricketers who are now performing at the international level with senior teams.
The format of the tournament has been changed this time. In the past, only T20 and 50-over games were played but the governing body of the event has decided to include 3-day games as well.
A special round has been reserved for 3-day matches and all the teams have to go through that round before the final winner of the tournament is determined.
With an aim to win this season, New Zealand Cricket aims at holding a full-fledged training session where young and old players will come together to form a rock-solid squad for the tournament.
