  1. You should at least run a 5K once before the actual race.

Start out with a 1/2 mile or mile jog.

Gradually build into running 4-5 times a week for 2-3 miles each time.

Substitute the occasional workout for a fast temp workout at shorter distances.

Once a week do a long run of 4 or 5 miles; this will help with endurance and stamina.

Get plenty of sleep and eat good food; nothing from a fast food restaurant.

I recommend you buy a stop watch and start tracking your times. This will help you gage your improvements.

  2. If you are really serious here is a link that has a "Couch-to-5K Running Plan"

If you do it and follow the advise you can make it !

    Good luck
