Training to do wonders for Fernhill Jess in the Good Friday Sprint at Romford on 6th April
Romford is to host the Good Friday Sprint over 225 metres on Friday, 6th April. The race that offers the prize money worth £175 is to be contested by West Way Ranger, Air Force Solo, Slick Shane, Droopys Zino, Fernhill Jess and Pretty Chilly.
From among the lineup, the hound who is in the best form is Fernhill Jess, Daves Mentor’s three-year-old white, blue and brindle daughter out of b***h Apache Chief. The very lightly raced candidate has only two races on her 2012 season profile, a victory
and a third position.
Fernhill Jess won her seasonal debut on 6th January in the Eva Menon Retirement Stakes at Romford over 400 metres by clocking the track distance in 24.15 seconds. The 5/4 favourite winner had 3 ¼ lengths under her belt when she made the trip across
the wire.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Fancy Socks who timed the track in 24.41 seconds and was soon followed in by Bit View Emma.
Failing to stay at par with the performance that Fernhill Jess displayed in her seasonal debut, she missed the next start.
On 13th January, Fernhill Jess finished third in the Dotty Doris Birthday Stakes at Romford over 400 metres after taking 24.86 seconds to finish the race. The evening’s favourite trailed behind the winner, Fancy Socks and the runner up, Sequential.
The former timed the track distance in 24.32 seconds while the latter completed the trip in 24.38 seconds.
In order to ensure a second victory during the new season through the third start, Fernhill Jess underwent training twice, first in March and then in April.
Under training D. Allen, she drilled over the 277 metres track at Henlow on 15th March and managed reaching the other end of the wire in 16.78 seconds. Bearing in mind that today’s race is at Romford, Fernhill Jess’ next session was at Romford
over 400 metres on 3rd April.
This distance she mastered in 24.18 seconds.
Another entry on the lineup who is coming straight out of a training session is the four-year-old Air Force Solo who took 13.56 seconds in order to race through the 225 metres at Romford on 3rd April.
The rest of the lineup is pretty harmless and does not really impact the chances of Fernhill Jess to claim the race tonight.
