Training trouble?

Hi. I am preparing for the next season in both cross country and football. I have to do my distance workouts over summer while still preparing for football. I was wondering if I can add weight training, plyometrics, and speed training to my schedule? I really want to gain the benefits of all workouts. Can you please tell me how to structure my workout? Jim Thorpe, one of the greatest athlete of all time, was good at about every sport. My training schedule looks like this:

Monday: Cross training in the morning

Weightlifting in the evening

Tuesday: Sprint/Speed Training in the morning

Plyometrics following workout

Endurance training (Track intervals) in the evening

Wednesday: Same as Mon.

Thursday: Same as Tuesday except Tempo Run instead of track intervals

Friday: Same as Mon.

Saturday: Same as Tuesday, but no sprint/speed training or plyometrics. Also, long run will performed instead of tempo or track intervals.

Sunday: Rest.

What do you think of this training program? Thanks

  1. Wow, that is a really good program! I like it a lot, if you are committed to it, than have at it. It doesn't look all that bad, you just have to stick to it.

I don't know how to improve it, you just have to do what it says.

  2. I think you are doing too much.

You need rest or easy days to recover from hard days.

You do not need to do twice a day training.
